Ether ETF Outflows Reach $1.08 Billion in October

US spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have recorded $1.08 billion in net outflows since the beginning of October, marking the largest monthly withdrawal total of 2026 so far. The continued outflows have erased the previous month's positive flows and come as Ether's market price declines.

ETF flow data available through SoSoValue's US spot Ether ETF dashboard shows that the funds recorded a further $26 million in net outflows on Tuesday. October's cumulative withdrawals have now surpassed $1 billion, with eight trading sessions remaining in the month at the time of the report.

The October outflows have reversed the $832 million in net inflows recorded by Ether ETFs in September. Despite the recent withdrawals, cumulative net inflows for 2026 remain positive at approximately $485 million.

Ether Price Decline Coincides With ETF Withdrawals

Ether's price weakness has accompanied the persistent outflows from US spot Ether ETFs. ETH declined 9.7% during October, falling from approximately $2,700 to $2,438 at the time of publication.

The broader year-to-date performance has also remained negative. Ether was down nearly 18% in 2026 at the time of the report, based on price data tracked by CoinGecko's Ethereum market page.

The simultaneous decline in Ether's price and the withdrawal of funds from spot ETFs highlights a challenging period for the asset. However, the figures alone do not establish that ETF outflows caused the price decline, or that the price drop was the sole reason investors withdrew funds.

October has already become the largest month for Ether ETF net outflows since November 2025. The final monthly total could change as additional trading sessions take place.

Bitcoin ETFs Record Fresh Daily Inflows

Bitcoin ETFs showed a different short-term pattern, attracting new capital over two consecutive trading sessions. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $527 million in net inflows on Monday, followed by another $23 million on Tuesday.

The Tuesday figure was substantially smaller than Monday's inflow, indicating that the daily pace of net investment had slowed. Nevertheless, the two sessions together delivered positive flows for the funds during that period.

Despite those gains, US spot Bitcoin ETFs remained in negative territory for October. The funds recorded approximately $67 million in cumulative net outflows for the month, according to the figures available at the time of publication.

The latest daily movements can be monitored through SoSoValue's US spot Bitcoin ETF dashboard, which tracks flows across the funds.

Bitcoin ETF Flows Remain Positive for 2026

Bitcoin ETFs have maintained positive cumulative net flows for the year despite October's withdrawals. Year-to-date net inflows stood at approximately $809 million at the time of the report.

Bitcoin traded at $82,954, down 2.2% since October 1 and 5.3% year-to-date. Its price performance therefore remained negative over both measurement periods, even as the funds attracted significant inflows on Monday.

Investors tracking the market can also follow Bitcoin's price history through CoinGecko's Bitcoin page. Price performance and ETF flows measure different aspects of market activity: the former tracks changes in an asset's market value, while the latter measures net capital entering or leaving the investment products.

What the October ETF Data Shows

The latest figures reveal a clear difference between Ether and Bitcoin ETF flows in October. Ether funds have experienced $1.08 billion in net withdrawals, while Bitcoin funds have recorded approximately $67 million in net outflows despite recent daily inflows.

Ether's withdrawals have also reversed September's positive monthly balance, although the funds remain net positive for 2026. Bitcoin ETFs, meanwhile, have retained approximately $809 million in year-to-date net inflows.

These figures remain subject to change as the month progresses. With eight trading sessions still to go in October at the time of the report, subsequent flows could alter the monthly totals for both assets.
