Ethereum Holds $2,700 as Breakout Momentum Builds

Ethereum is holding around the $2,700–$2,800 region on September 23 after breaking above an important technical resistance level during its latest recovery.

ETH has gained approximately 14.7% over the past seven days in Indian market data, with the cryptocurrency trading around ₹263,616 early Wednesday.

The recovery follows weakness earlier in September and has brought Ethereum back above the September 11 high identified by Reuters technical analysis.

Traders are now watching whether ETH can maintain the breakout as ETF demand improves and Ethereum developers move closer to the next Glamsterdam testnet milestone.

ETH Breaks Above $2,661 Resistance

Ethereum's latest recovery has pushed ETH above an important technical level.

Reuters reported that Ether broke above the $2,661.52 high established on September 11, completing what its technical analysis described as a breakout from a bull-flag consolidation pattern.

The move followed a period of sideways trading after ETH's strong rally in late August.

Reuters identified $2,775–$2,825 as an area where ETH could encounter consolidation following the breakout.

Its technical analysis also pointed to approximately $3,050 as a potential chart-based target if the pattern continues.

These levels should not be interpreted as guaranteed price outcomes. Technical analysis identifies possible market scenarios based on historical price patterns rather than predicting future prices with certainty.

Ethereum Gains 14.7% in Seven Days

Ethereum's latest performance shows how quickly market conditions have changed.

ET Markets data at 8:08 a.m. IST on September 23 showed ETH at approximately ₹263,616, up 0.30% over 24 hours.

More significantly, ETH was up 14.71% over seven days.

One week earlier, the same dataset placed Ethereum around ₹230,142.

That puts ETH among the stronger-performing major cryptocurrencies over the latest weekly period and represents a substantial recovery from the weakness seen earlier in September.

Ether ETF Flows Turn Positive Again

Institutional flows remain another important part of Ethereum's market structure.

U.S. spot Ether ETFs experienced significant withdrawals during the middle of September.

Farside Investors recorded net outflows of approximately:

  • $142.0 million on September 15

  • $224.1 million on September 16

  • $39.3 million on September 17

Flows then reversed.

September 18 recorded approximately $143.7 million in net inflows, followed by a much larger $270 million inflow on September 21.

Preliminary September 22 data showed another $37.7 million in net inflows.

The reversal suggests institutional ETF demand has improved alongside Ethereum's price recovery, although daily flows can change significantly from one session to the next.

BlackRock's ETHA Leads Cumulative ETF Inflows

Farside's cumulative data also shows substantial capital flowing into several U.S. Ethereum ETFs since launch.

BlackRock's ETHA leads the group with more than $13 billion in cumulative net inflows, while Fidelity's FETH has attracted more than $2 billion.

Grayscale's legacy ETHE product has recorded substantial cumulative outflows following its conversion.

These flows provide another measure of institutional demand for ETH outside direct cryptocurrency exchanges.

However, ETF flows represent only one component of Ethereum's overall market.

ETH also trades globally through spot markets, derivatives, staking infrastructure and DeFi applications.

Glamsterdam Approaches Its Next Major Test

Ethereum's price recovery is occurring alongside preparations for Glamsterdam, the network's next major protocol upgrade.

Ethereum's official roadmap currently lists Glamsterdam as testing on devnets.

The next major scheduled milestone is the Sepolia fork on October 6, 2026.

Mainnet deployment remains targeted for Q4 2026, but Ethereum has not yet confirmed an exact mainnet activation date.

Glamsterdam is designed to improve Ethereum's Layer 1 scalability by changing how the network processes transactions, creates blocks and manages its growing state.

The upgrade includes significant changes across both Ethereum's execution and consensus layers.

Glamsterdam Testing Is Already Underway

Ethereum developers are using the Platåberget testnet as an early public testing environment for Glamsterdam.

Unlike short-lived development networks, Platåberget is intended to operate for several months so developers can identify compatibility problems before Glamsterdam reaches Ethereum's longer-lived Sepolia and Hoodi testnets.

The Ethereum Foundation has warned that the upgrade introduces changes developers need to test carefully.

For example, applications and infrastructure that assume fixed gas-limit behavior may require updates.

Some Glamsterdam proposals also change the gas costs associated with creating and accessing Ethereum state.

The Foundation says historical transaction testing suggests the large majority of smart contracts are unaffected, although a small number may need adjustments before the upgrade.

What Traders Are Watching Next

Ethereum's immediate technical picture centers on several price levels identified in Reuters' latest analysis.

$2,661.52: The September 11 high that ETH has now broken above.

$2,775–$2,825: A potential consolidation area following the breakout.

$3,050: A chart-based upside target suggested by the breakout pattern.

$2,560–$2,565: A lower area that Reuters said could raise concerns about the strength of the current move if ETH falls back below it.

$2,350–$2,360: A deeper downside area that could undermine the current technical structure.

These are technical reference levels rather than forecasts.

Price direction will continue to depend on broader crypto-market conditions, ETF demand, macroeconomic developments and Ethereum-specific activity.

Ethereum Enters a Key Period

Ethereum is now entering a period where market and protocol developments are occurring simultaneously.

ETH has recovered strongly over the past week and broken through a recent technical resistance level.

ETF flows have also shifted back toward net inflows following several sessions of significant withdrawals.

Meanwhile, Glamsterdam is approaching its October 6 Sepolia test, giving Ethereum another major network milestone to watch.

That combination makes the next several weeks relevant both for ETH traders and developers preparing applications for upcoming protocol changes.

Bottom Line

Ethereum is holding around the $2,700–$2,800 region after breaking above the $2,661.52 September 11 high identified by Reuters.

ETH has gained approximately 14.7% over seven days, while U.S. spot Ether ETF flows have recently returned to positive territory following substantial mid-September withdrawals.

Technical analysis places $2,775–$2,825 as an important near-term area, with approximately $3,050 identified as a potential chart-based target if momentum continues.

At the same time, Ethereum developers are preparing for the next major Glamsterdam milestone, with the Sepolia testnet fork scheduled for October 6 and mainnet deployment still targeted for Q4 2026.

Ethereum's next phase will therefore depend on both sides of the market: whether ETH can maintain its recent breakout and whether Glamsterdam continues progressing toward mainnet deployment.
