Justin Sun’s ETH Holdings Surpass Ethereum Foundation After 5,000 ETH Redemption
Justin Sun has reportedly become one of the largest known holders of Ether, with wallets linked to the Tron founder holding more than 243,000 ETH. The balance is valued at over $600 million and now reportedly exceeds the Ethereum holdings attributed to the Ethereum Foundation.
The development follows the redemption of 5,000 ETH from Lido. According to on-chain analyst Ai Yi, 3,500 ETH was transferred through Poloniex and subsequently moved to a hot wallet, while the remaining 1,500 ETH was deposited into Morpho. The eventual purpose of the 3,500 ETH transfer has not been identified.
Justin Sun-linked Wallets Hold More Than 243,000 ETH
On-chain tracking indicates that addresses associated with Justin Sun still hold more than 243,000 ETH following the Lido redemption. At a valuation above $600 million, the holdings place the associated entity among the largest known ETH holders.

Arkham's tracking platform provides wallet and entity-level information for Justin Sun, including cryptocurrency balances, transfers and counterparties. Because blockchain addresses do not inherently identify their owners, wallet attribution should be understood as on-chain analysis rather than proof that every address is personally controlled by Sun.
Recent reporting based on Ai Yi's monitoring places the Justin Sun-linked holdings at fourth among major ETH-holding entities, ahead of the Ethereum Foundation.
5,000 ETH Leaves Lido
The latest movement began with the redemption of 5,000 ETH from Lido, the liquid-staking protocol. The transaction reduced the amount of ETH associated with the staking position and moved the assets into other on-chain destinations.
Of the 5,000 ETH, approximately 3,500 ETH went to Poloniex before moving into a hot wallet. The purpose of that wallet and what ultimately may happen to those funds remains unknown based on the available on-chain information. The remaining 1,500 ETH was deposited into Morpho.
The movement therefore should not automatically be interpreted as a sale. The available data confirms transfers and deposits, but it does not establish that Sun sold the ETH or intends to liquidate the position.
Why the Ethereum Foundation Comparison Matters
The comparison with the Ethereum Foundation is notable because the foundation is closely associated with Ethereum's development and ecosystem work. However, its ETH holdings and Sun-linked wallet balances are not directly equivalent categories.
The Ethereum Foundation manages assets to support its operations and ecosystem responsibilities, while a private holder's wallet balance represents assets attributed to an individual or related entity. The foundation's own published mandate explains its broader role within the Ethereum ecosystem.

Recent Arkham research also shows how large the overall ETH-holder landscape has become. Its August 2026 analysis identified the Beacon Deposit Contract, which contains staked ETH, as the largest individual Ethereum address, while Bitmine, Coinbase, Binance and BlackRock also rank among major ETH-holding entities.

Poloniex and Morpho Transfers Add to the Picture
The destinations of the redeemed ETH provide some insight into how the assets were repositioned, although they do not reveal Sun's ultimate intentions.
The 3,500 ETH transferred to Poloniex and then to a hot wallet remains the least clear part of the movement. A hot wallet is generally an internet-connected cryptocurrency wallet used for transactions, but the available information does not establish why these funds were moved there.
The other 1,500 ETH deposited into Morpho represents a different type of on-chain movement. Morpho is a decentralized lending protocol, meaning assets deposited there can be used within its lending markets under the applicable protocol conditions. The transfer itself, however, does not establish whether Sun is borrowing against the ETH, supplying liquidity or pursuing another strategy.
Sun Remains a Major ETH Holder
Despite redeeming 5,000 ETH, the reported balance remains above 243,000 ETH, meaning the transaction represents only a small portion of the overall position.
At a value exceeding $600 million, the ETH holdings remain substantial compared with the broader crypto market. Arkham has previously tracked significant on-chain holdings associated with Sun and notes that wallet attribution can involve both confirmed and estimated addresses.

The latest transactions highlight one of the advantages of blockchain data: large movements can be observed publicly and followed across protocols and wallets. At the same time, on-chain activity does not always explain the reason behind a transaction, so conclusions about future buying, selling or investment decisions require additional evidence.
What the Latest ETH Movements Show
The latest transactions leave Justin Sun-linked wallets with more than 243,000 ETH, while 5,000 ETH has moved out of Lido. Of that amount, 3,500 ETH traveled through Poloniex and into a hot wallet, while 1,500 ETH moved into Morpho.
For now, the blockchain data confirms where the ETH moved, but not what will happen next. The most important development is therefore the size of the remaining position: Sun-linked wallets continue to rank among the largest known ETH holders, reportedly surpassing the Ethereum Foundation's holdings.
That makes the wallet activity an important on-chain development to monitor, while avoiding assumptions about whether the transfers represent selling, repositioning, lending or another strategy.
