Revolut Brings EURR Euro Stablecoin to Ethereum

Revolut is launching EURR, a euro-backed stablecoin designed to bring euro-denominated money onchain, marking another major step in the fintech company's expansion into digital assets.

The phased rollout began in August 2026 for eligible customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal, with broader availability expected later this year. Revolut says EURR is designed to maintain a stable value of €1.00 and provide customers with an onchain option for moving between fiat, crypto, external wallets and supported blockchain networks.

EURR will launch on Ethereum, giving Revolut customers access to a euro-denominated digital asset without needing to convert their local currency into dollars first.

EURR Brings Euros Onchain

Most major stablecoins have historically been linked to the U.S. dollar, making dollar exposure a common part of crypto markets.

Revolut's EURR takes a different approach by targeting customers who earn, save and spend in euros.

The company said EURR is designed to give those users a local-currency option for blockchain-based transactions. Instead of converting euros into dollars before entering the digital-asset ecosystem, eligible customers can use a euro-denominated stablecoin directly.

This could make stablecoins more practical for European users who want to move value between traditional financial accounts and blockchain networks.

Revolut has also said that stablecoins linked to other currencies are already being developed, suggesting EURR could become the first step in a broader multi-currency stablecoin strategy.

Bridge Building Will Issue EURR

EURR is being issued by Bridge Building S.A., a Stripe company that provides stablecoin infrastructure.

Revolut says Bridge Building will issue the euro-pegged electronic money token, while Revolut Digital Assets Europe will offer it to eligible customers.

Bridge describes its infrastructure as an end-to-end stablecoin platform that allows businesses to issue, receive, store, convert and spend stablecoins.

This infrastructure could allow Revolut to integrate EURR into its existing financial ecosystem rather than operating the stablecoin as an isolated crypto product.

The structure also highlights how established fintech companies are increasingly relying on specialized blockchain infrastructure providers to bring stablecoin products to consumers.

Ethereum Becomes the Settlement Layer

The launch of EURR on Ethereum puts the stablecoin directly into one of the largest blockchain ecosystems for decentralized finance and digital assets.

Ethereum's established infrastructure could allow EURR to interact with wallets, decentralized applications and other blockchain-based financial services.

For Revolut, that creates a potential bridge between its existing customer base and the wider onchain economy.

The move also follows a broader trend of financial companies using public blockchains for settlement, payments and tokenized assets.

Revolut Has More Than 75 Million Customers

Revolut says more than 75 million customers across more than 40 markets use its platform for financial services including payments, foreign exchange and crypto.

That existing customer base gives EURR a potential distribution advantage compared with stablecoins that must attract users independently.

Instead of requiring customers to discover a new crypto wallet or exchange, Revolut can integrate the stablecoin into an established financial application.

The company says EURR will provide an onchain option for moving between fiat, crypto, external wallets and supported blockchain networks.

That could make stablecoin usage more accessible to customers who may not currently interact directly with decentralized finance.

EURR Targets Cross-Border Money Movement

Revolut originally built its business around moving money between currencies and across borders.

The company now sees stablecoins as another layer of that infrastructure.

With EURR, euro-denominated value can potentially move across blockchain networks rather than relying exclusively on traditional banking rails.

Stablecoins can also support near-real-time settlement and programmable transactions, creating potential applications beyond simple crypto trading.

Bridge's infrastructure, for example, is designed to support stablecoin-based cross-border payments and global payouts.

For Revolut, this creates an opportunity to connect its existing international payments business with blockchain-based settlement.

EURR Expands the European Stablecoin Market

The launch comes as European regulators and financial institutions continue developing frameworks for stablecoins.

Revolut says EURR is structured as a euro-pegged electronic money token (EMT) and is issued by Bridge Building S.A., which the company identifies as regulated under the EU's MiCA framework. Revolut Digital Assets Europe is identified as a MiCA-regulated crypto-asset service provider.

That regulatory structure is particularly important for a consumer-facing stablecoin because compliance, redemption rights and reserve arrangements are central to maintaining confidence in the token.

Revolut also warns that stablecoins carry risks and directs customers to its crypto-asset risk disclosures.

More Revolut Stablecoins Could Follow

EURR appears to be only the beginning of Revolut's stablecoin strategy.

The company says stablecoins tied to other currencies are already in development through separate regulatory pathways.

That could eventually allow Revolut to create a network of local-currency stablecoins designed around the currencies its customers use.

Such a model would fit directly into Revolut's broader goal of making money movement more global and less dependent on traditional currency boundaries.

Revolut Pushes Traditional Finance Further Onchain

The EURR launch represents more than another stablecoin entering the Ethereum ecosystem.

It demonstrates how a major fintech platform can use blockchain infrastructure to bring traditional fiat currency directly into onchain financial markets.

For European customers, the most important change could be simple: euros can become a blockchain-native financial instrument without requiring users to first take on dollar exposure.

With Ethereum providing the underlying blockchain and Bridge providing stablecoin infrastructure, Revolut is positioning EURR as a bridge between its traditional financial services and the growing onchain economy.

If the rollout expands successfully, EURR could become an important euro-denominated stablecoin while giving Revolut a new foundation for blockchain-based payments, transfers and financial services.
