Vitalik Buterin Takes the Opposite Side of an AI Bitcoin Crash Forecast
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has pushed back against a prediction that artificial intelligence could cause Bitcoin to lose at least half of its value within the next two years.
The forecast came from angel investor and Doom Debates podcast host Liron Shapira, who argued that increasingly capable AI could undermine assumptions surrounding Bitcoin’s security and robustness. Shapira said he had 50% confidence that BTC would experience a 50% or greater crash within two years because AI could challenge the guarantees that people have traditionally associated with the network.
